Everone needs to know that false teachers are great at planting seeds of doubt in the minds of believers.  This can take the form of questioning a particulaar Scripture passage, updating God's Word to suit today's cultural preferences, or even fictionalizing biblical history for entertainment.  Unfortunately, some Christians are unprepared for such situations because they have not studied the foundational truths of the faith.  While pastors fulfill a very important role in teaching the church, followers of Jesus must take responsibility for their own spiritual knowledge by digging into the Bible as the source of truth.

Every believer needs to know with certainty that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  Doubt and compromise are subtle tricks of the enemy, but be encouraged--the more familiar you are with the truth, the easier it will be to identify and stand against false teaching.
